The following information is intended for all students who are interested in the thesis topic offered by the APP Chair.

Note on registration for theses

The possibility to register for theses (BA / MA) at the Chair of Information Systems and Application Management will be reopened from December 2024. Until then, no new registrations can be accepted.

New process for registering the thesis

If you meet the requirements to write your thesis, a note will appear on your grade transcript: “Requirements for registering the thesis have been met.” This sentence is located directly at the beginning of your transcript.

Steps for Registration:

  1. Proof of Requirements:

    • Download your grade transcript with all achievements.
    • Present this transcript to your supervisor at the chair to prove that you have met the requirements.
  2. Filling Out the Registration Form:

    • Please use the new registration form from this winter semester 2024/2025 onwards.
    • You can find the form on the Examination Office website under Forms: Thesis Registration Form
    • Your first examiner fills out the form electronically.
    • No signature is required; the names of the examiners are sufficient.
    • A printed version of the form remains at the chair and must be signed by you in original.
  3. Submitting the Registration:

    • The completed form is sent by the chair via email to the responsible clerk in the Examination Office.
  4. Confirmation and Submission Deadline:

    • The Examination Office calculates the submission deadline of your thesis.
    • You will receive all information via email to your university account (first and second examiners are CC'd).

Important Notes:

  • New Registration Form:

    • From this winter semester 2024/2025, the registration forms have been updated. Please ensure you use the current form (Thesis Registration Form ) available on the Examination Office website under Forms.

    • If the note does not appear in your transcript, although you meet the requirements, please contact the responsible clerk in the Examination Office.
  • External Theses:

    • If you wish to write your thesis externally (outside the degree program or similar), you need to obtain prior approval from the Examination Committee.
    • Send an informal email with your transcript to the Chair of the Examination Committee.
  • Students of Business Informatics (BA/MA):

    • In this case, the thesis topic must still be issued through the Examination Committee.
